Sending a Brand to the Edge of Space: What It Involves
A high-altitude balloon can carry a small payload and a camera to the edge of space. The footage becomes a brand film few people can match.
How it works
A large balloon lifts a lightweight payload box with cameras and trackers. It rises to around 30 kilometres, where the sky turns black and the Earth's curve is visible.
The balloon eventually bursts, and the payload descends by parachute to be recovered and the footage cut.
The five steps
Concept: what is the story and where is the product in the frame.
Payload: a safe, light, branded box with cameras and tracking.
Launch: planned with the right permissions for airspace and location.
Filming: continuous footage from the ground to the edge of space.
Recovery and edit: retrieve the payload and turn the footage into the film.
Why brands do it
It is rare, visual and easy to share. It also gives you a launch moment that people want to watch to the end.
Things to know
Every launch needs local permissions and a safety plan. Weather and wind decide the date, so build in flexibility.
