Barter Influencer Campaigns: What 200 Product-Only Creators Do

A barter campaign gives creators product instead of fees. Done well, it buys scale. Done badly, it buys silence.

The Bioderma brief

Bioderma wanted national reach on Instagram without the cost of a fee-based campaign. We onboarded 200 creators on a product-only basis and matched each creator with the range that suited their skin type.

The campaign delivered 200 videos and 240+ Stories. Reel views plus Story views added up to more than 1 million, at zero creator fees.

What made it work

Product-to-skin matching, so every review felt like a real need and not an ad.

Reels for discovery and Stories for repeat exposure to the same followers.

A tight brief with the key claims, then each creator told the story in their own voice.

What the numbers suggested

About 28,000 engagements on 620,000 Reel views, roughly a 4.5 percent engagement rate.

640 plus saves against 520 plus shares, a sign people kept the routines to try later.

When barter is a bad idea

When the product needs a demonstration only a trained creator can give, or when the audience will not trust unpaid posts. Match the model to the product.
